Mumford & Sons-- Sigh No More (2009)

Hello again. Ever thought of mashing up folk with rock? Seems impossible? Well it's not, as Mumford & Sons has done it beautifully with their first debut album, Sigh No More.

Mumford & Sons is an English band. The band consists of Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitar, drums, mandolin), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, accordion, drums), "Country" Winston Marshall (vocals, banjo, dobro, guitar), and Ted Dwane (vocals, string bass, drums, guitar).

Sigh No More is packed with unique guitar strummings and engaging harmonies. Seriously, I don't know how people can pull this off so perfectly. Take Little Lion Man for example. The intro is definitely one of a kind. It sounds like a folk song, but as you get into the song, you realize, it's not pure folk. You hear rock, you hear country, and you hear a hint of pop. And the best thing is, it's not some random autotuned BS. It's true music. No offence to Nicki Minaj fans.

The whole album seems as if coated with a musky scent, in a good way. It brings out the "good ole feeling" of old songs, but still has a modern twist to it. It makes you feel calmed. And refreshed. The vocals are nicely done, with nice rusty voices and complimenting harmonies. It's just like an ear candy. Exceptionally well-done.

Note that British bands are sometimes even better than American ones, because they bring us the feeling of something real. It's like the English neighborhood on a plate. Sigh No More, indeed, makes you sigh no more about not finding a good band. It's very promising, and leaves you wanting more of Mumford & Sons. I do hope they could come for a tour, which is quite impossible, to be frank. But nevertheless, Mumford & Sons is a wonderful band and definitely worth your time listening to.

Enjoy Sigh No More. I guarantee instant satisfaction.
