Mumford & Sons-- Sigh No More (2009)
Hello again. Ever thought of mashing up folk with rock? Seems impossible? Well it's not, as Mumford & Sons has done it beautifully with their first debut album, Sigh No More.
Mumford & Sons is an English band. The band consists of Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitar, drums, mandolin), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, accordion, drums), "Country" Winston Marshall (vocals, banjo, dobro, guitar), and Ted Dwane (vocals, string bass, drums, guitar).
Sigh No More is packed with unique guitar strummings and engaging harmonies. Seriously, I don't know how people can pull this off so perfectly. Take Little Lion Man for example. The intro is definitely one of a kind. It sounds like a folk song, but as you get into the song, you realize, it's not pure folk. You hear rock, you hear country, and you hear a hint of pop. And the best thing is, it's not some random autotuned BS. It's true music. No offence to Nicki Minaj fans.
The whole album seems as if coated with a musky scent, in a good way. It brings out the "good ole feeling" of old songs, but still has a modern twist to it. It makes you feel calmed. And refreshed. The vocals are nicely done, with nice rusty voices and complimenting harmonies. It's just like an ear candy. Exceptionally well-done.
Note that British bands are sometimes even better than American ones, because they bring us the feeling of something real. It's like the English neighborhood on a plate. Sigh No More, indeed, makes you sigh no more about not finding a good band. It's very promising, and leaves you wanting more of Mumford & Sons. I do hope they could come for a tour, which is quite impossible, to be frank. But nevertheless, Mumford & Sons is a wonderful band and definitely worth your time listening to.
Enjoy Sigh No More. I guarantee instant satisfaction.

Vampire Weekend-- Contra (2010)
Vampire Weekend has two albums in total, Vampire Weekend and Contra, which both of them are superb. But today, I will be introducing you Contra, the newest album.
Just a little background information of this band: It is an American indie-rock band formed in 2006, signed to XL Recordings. Ezra Koenig is the lead vocalist and guitarist, Rostam Batmanglij does the keyboards, guitar, backing vocals, Chris Tomson the drums and percussion, and finally Chris Baio the bass guitar and backing vocals.
On to the album.
Contra (2010)
If only allowed to sum it up with two words, Contra would be fascinating and unusual. It has the dream-like quality to it, but still maintains its melody.
Horchata was the first song I heard from the album, and I instantly fell in love with it. Its unconventional use of afro beats is what truly attracted me. It gives you a soothing yet quirky feeling, which makes it peculiar in a good way. Ezra's voice is so smooth that it literally carries you all the way through the song. The rest of the album is more or less as whimsical as Horchata.
Another song that I particularly like is Diplomat's Son. Like , come on, who Wouldn't like that song? The rhythm's so catchy and dreamy at the same time that you feel as if IN the song. That's the power of Vampire Weekend. Their ability to pull people into their own creations is just astonishing. I'm sure this applies for all other songs from Contra, like Run, White Sky, and Cousins.
The percussion and background instruments throughout the whole album plays a great role in all the songs. It's somehow like the backbone of the album. With the backbone, the voice of Ezra is perfectly balanced out and the songs become perfection. This is how awesome the whole album is. The only downfall is Sorry. There's NO downfall. Haha. It is simply pure perfection. Period.
I highly recommend Contra, and all other Vampire Weekend songs to y'all. I bet anyone would love it. It's one of the rare albums that is done with delicacy and details. So. Listen. To. It. Now.
Until next time, folks! Happy listening!
Modern Vinyl.
OKAY. SERIOUSLY, FORGET THIS. FORGET ALL THAT CHEMISTRY. HERE'S THE REAL STUFF.
Vinyl generally means a gramophone record, where music is recorded onto in earlier times. With the emergence of digital records, these gramophone records were gradually replaced. However, once again, this never-dying industry regained popularity in 2008.
So, on to the main point. I'm not selling you vinyl (gramophone) records, but instead, I'm promoting good music. Good music that perhaps, in some cases, were forgotten or isolated like vinyl records. And here's a warning: I'm a Huge indie/relatively slow music person. So please don't mind me if you hate the idea of non-rock or non-screamo stuff.
One may think "This girl is just trying to be a hipster. The music she likes isn't even Good music." Then I have to tell you, I don't give a damn. Music tastes are subjective, so what the hey! Haters gonna hate, right?
So here you go! An entire blog dedicated to music, music, and music.
Be amazed!
